1. Who we are

Ikenga Academy (“we”, “our”, “us”) is an online learning platform operated by Nomadic Techs. Our platform is available at learn.ikenga.ng. For any privacy questions, contact us at chat@ikenga.ng.

2. Data we collect

• Account data: name, email address, and optional phone number provided during registration.
• Profile data: avatar, learning path preferences, subscription tier.
• Usage data: lesson progress, quiz scores, time spent per lesson, forum posts.
• Payment data: handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store card numbers or bank details.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, referring URLs — collected via server logs and Vercel Analytics.
• Communications: messages sent to our support chat or email.

3. How we use your data

• Providing and improving the learning platform.
• Processing payments and managing subscriptions.
• Sending transactional emails (sign-in links, receipts, certificates).
• Sending optional marketing emails (you can unsubscribe at any time).
• Detecting and preventing fraud and abuse.
• Complying with legal obligations.

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

We process your data under the following legal bases: contract (to deliver the service you signed up for), legitimate interest (platform security, fraud prevention, improving our product), consent (marketing emails), and legal obligation (tax records, regulatory compliance).

5. Data sharing

We share your data only with:

• Supabase — database and authentication hosting (EU region available).
• Stripe — payment processing. Governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• Resend — transactional email delivery.
• Vercel — hosting and analytics (aggregate, anonymised).

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

6. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, personal data is removed within 30 days except where retention is required by law (e.g., payment records retained for 7 years for tax purposes).

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of your personal data.
• Rectification — correct inaccurate data (most data editable in your profile settings).
• Erasure — request deletion of your account and data.
• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
• Object — opt out of marketing communications and certain processing.
• Restriction — ask us to limit processing in certain circumstances.

9. Security

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest. Passwords are never stored — we use magic link authentication. Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe (PCI DSS Level 1 certified).

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will notify you by email for material changes. Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
